Endometriosis: A Nightmare

This poem was composed for The Starving Artist’s Blood Stains Link Ink exhibit aiming to address period equity.

A nightmare ravaging my insides

Stealing light and haunting life

Broken and fracturing what was once whole

A darkness swirling and mocking

Twisting tissue and bending the soul

Claiming all I had and can no longer hold

An unforgiving force of despair

Plucking at strings and untying sanity

Hidden pain that few understand or believe

Endometriosis: A Hidden Beast

 Stained, aching, raw

A searing agony stealing my sensuality

Burned and barred from the inside out

Exhausted, sore, sorrowful

An anonymous monster hunting my womb

Broken yet seemingly whole, they say

Chasing, tracking, searching

This unnamed beast mocking my stability
